1st Sunday of Advent/ St andrew's day

This Sunday is the 5th Sunday of the month and we hold our united service with Kelso Old & Sprouston. The service will be in Kelso Old at 11am. Come along to celebrate both the 1st Sunday of advent and also St Andrew’s Day. Please note that there will be no services in Morebattle or Yetholm.
  • Craft Group meets at Yetholm Kirk on Mondays from 2pm. All welcome.
  • Coffee and chat at Yetholm Kirk on Tuesdays from 10.30 -12 noon. All welcome.
  • Prayer Service is on Tuesdays at 12 noon in Yetholm
  • The Advent Study Group will meet on Thursday at 10.30am at Arthur & Kathleen Bates’ home, 4 The Yett, Kirk Yetholm. All welcome.
  • The funeral of Jenny Flanagan will take place on Friday 5th December at 11.30am in Morebattle Kirk.
  • Yetholm Village Choir has a concert at Yetholm Kirk next Sunday, 7th December, at 4pm.
  • There will be Carols round the Tree at the Institute in Morebattle next Sunday at 6.30pm.
  • Next week we have a united Communion service at Yetholm at 10am. There will be no service at Linton.

Loving God, on this the first Sunday of the new Church Year, we come with joy in anticipation of the coming of Jesus to earth at Christmas. During this season of Advent, may we go out with joy and be and be led forth in peace and pray that peace will flow from all of our actions and interactions this week. Amen

  • We have an evening communion tonight at Kelso Old at 6pm.

  • We are saddened by the death of our elder Jenny Flanagan. The funeral will be on Friday 5th December at 11.30am in Morebattle Kirk.
  • The Kirk Session meets on Wednesday 26th November at 7pm at Yetholm Kirk.
  • The Advent Study Group will meet on Thursday during Advent at 10.30am. The first meeting will be on the 4th December at Arthur & Kathleen Bates’ home, 4 the Yett, Kirk Yetholm.
  • We have a united service at Kelso Old at 11am next Sunday. There will be NO services at Morebattle or Yetholm.

  • John Tweedie’s funeral is on Tuesday 18th November. There will be a private burial in the morning at Hownam, with a service of thanksgiving at 1.30pm at Morebattle Kirk.
  • The closing date for articles for The Cheviot is Friday 21st November.
  • We will have a united service at Kelso Old on Sunday 30th November at 11am. There will be a united choir, and rehearsals will be held on Friday 21 and 28th at Kelso Old.
  • The Kirk Session meets on Wednesday 26th November at 7pm at Yetholm Kirk.

Remembrance Sunday

We welcome everyone to our services for Remembrance Sunday at Yetholm (Rev Una Stewart) and Morebattle (Rev Colin), both at 10am.
  • There will be a retiring offering on behalf of Poppyscotland.
  • There will be short services at the war memorials:
  1. At Yetholm 9.45 am
  2. At Morebattle 11am
  3. At Linton 12.30
  4. At Hownam at 11am on Tuesday 11th November.

All Saints Sunday

Our services this Sunday morning are at Linton, led by Debbie Brown, and at Yetholm , led by Rev Colin, both at 10am.
  • There will be a service this afternoon at 3pm at Hownam Kirk to mark its official closure. Please come along to this time to give thanks for the faithful witness over the centuries in Hownam.
  • Craft Group meets at Yetholm Kirk on Mondays from 2pm. All welcome.
  • Coffee and chat at Yetholm Kirk on Tuesdays from 10.30 -12 noon. All welcome.
  • Prayer Service is on Tuesdays at 12 noon in Yetholm
  • Mission committee meets on Tuesday at the Manse at 3pm.
  • The Guild meets on Thursday 6th November at 2pm at the Morebattle Institute. The speaker is Mrs Debbie Playfair-Hannay, and her topic is ‘ From the Borderlands to the battlefields’. All welcome.
  • Sarah Cook will be ordained and inducted to Jedburgh & Oxnam l/w Ale & Teviot on Thursday 6th November at 7pm.
  • Kelso Old are holding a Quiz on Friday 7th November at 7.30pm. Please see the notice for more details.
  • John Tweedie’s funeral will be on Tuesday 18th November. There will be a private burial in the morning at Hownam, with a service of thanksgiving at 2pm
  • Our thanks to all who helped towards the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal. 34 boxes were handed in , and they will all be sent to Ukraine.
  • There will be a retiring offering next Sunday on behalf of PoppyScotland.
