Welcome to our services at Yetholm (10am) and Linton (11.15am) for the 20th Sunday after Pentecost. At Linton we celebrate Harvest.
Call to Worship O Lord, open our lips, And our mouths shall declare your praise. O Lord, open our eyes, That we may behold your presence. O Lord, open our ears, That we may hear your call. O Lord, open our hearts, That we may respond to your love in worship. Hymn 201 – Worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness (Yetholm) / Hymn 233 – Come ye thankful people (Linton) Prayers of Adoration & Confession/ Lord’s Prayer All-age Talk Readings – Job 2: 1-10 (Pg 510) Mark 10: 2-16 (Pg 1014) Hymn 351- Jesus’ hands were kind hands Prayer Creator God, we thank you for this time of reflection together as we come with childlike faith welcoming the kingdom of God into our lives. We pray for an awareness of your love and support in all we do this coming week. Amen Reflection Hymn 642 – Ye who know the Lord is gracious (Y) Hymn 153 – great is thy faithfulness (L) Prayers of Dedication & Intercession Almighty God, we bring our voices together to pray for peace, unsure of what to say or do. We see conflict, war, bombings, people fleeing to find shelter. As we witness an escalation in conflict, we pray for your peace … a peace which offers justice for the oppressed and downtrodden, a real peace in which every individual may live free from the horrors currently being experienced. Caring God, be with those suffering in Lebanon and across the Middle East. Bring healing to those physically and emotionally wounded … and healing between individuals, groups and nations. Comforting God, be with those who mourn the loss of loved ones and be with them in their grief and trauma, offering your grace and inner peace. Loving God, you loved us so much you came into our world in Jesus, the Prince of Peace. We have heard the Good News; enable us to share your love … for love will overcome. Strengthen our resolve to love our neighbour, and work together for peace so that love might be shared, healing becomes a reality, and that we never lose hope. In the Name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. (Moderator’s Prayer) Hymn 532- O for a thousand tongues (1,2,5,6) (Y) Hymn 229 – We plough the fields and scatter (L) Benediction
